My Baby Shark Package

My Baby Shark is designed to help raise awareness of the plight of sharks and help raise funds for WWF and its vital shark conservation programme. Currently, all global fisheries for sharks are unsustainable, and many species of shark are threatened with extinction. The loss of the top predator is unbalancing the marine eco-system and could have catastrophic effects. We must act now to save these beautiful creatures of the ocean. Show your support and help WWF continue its work on shark conservation and save the masters of the sea!

The Role of Hong Kong

Despite being geographically small, Hong Kong is the world’s largest trading centre of shark fin, accounting for over 50% of the global trade. About 73 million sharks are killed every year to satisfy this enormous appetite. According to the 2010 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, over 180 shark species are threatened with extinction. With our knowledge of 47% of shark and related species being too limited, we are not even able to assess the threat to them so the number under threat could be much higher. We could lose them forever before even having the time to learn more about them.
