Security and other information

1. What does WWF do with the information collected?

When becoming a member or making a donation by credit card, we need your contact information so that the card can be processed. Providing any other personal information is optional. Your credit card information is held by AsiaPay, a secure payment processing company, solely for the purpose of processing the donation or membership payments. This information is not held by WWF at any time.

After you have made the donation we may send you updates about our work. And if at any time you do not wish to hear from us again, you can simply say so! We always provide our full contact details on correspondence so that you can easily get in touch.

2. Who are AsiaPay?

WWF Hong Kong uses the AsiaPay secure payment processing system to handle our online donations and membership payments because we believe it gives our supporters the best security. The AsiaPay website is at www.asiapay.com.

3. How do I know that my credit card details are safe?

AsiaPay uses the same 128-bit SSL encryption technology as most banks. When you fill in the payment form and click the submit button, your details are not sent straight away. What actually happens is that a secure link is set up between your browser and AsiaPay and an encryption code is requested and received. This then protects the information and transaction details before leaving the WWF donation page for processing by AsiaPay.

4. Is my contribution eligible for tax relief?

With a receipt, donations of HK$100 and over are tax deductable in Hong Kong. Contributions via this website are made to WWF Hong Kong and may not be eligible for tax relief in countries other than Hong Kong. If you prefer to give direct to the WWF office in your country, please go to the WWF Family page for links to all WWF websites around the world.

5. Will I receive a receipt for the donation I make to WWF through this website?

Yes. Donations of HK$100 and over are eligible for a receipt. Please indicate clearly your name, postal address and opt-in for a receipt in the online donation form.

Data Privacy

1. What information do we collect?
a) Personal information such as name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, date of birth (where appropriate), etc. We collect this information only in connection with specific activities, such as membership, campaigns, feedback, surveys, email newsletter subscriptions, etc. You don't have to disclose any of this information if you do not wish to.

b) Non-personal information
WWF collects data such as IP address (the location of the computer on the internet), pages accessed and files downloaded. This helps us to determine how many individuals use our site, how many people visit on a regular basis, which pages are most popular, and which pages are least popular. This information doesn't tell us anything about who you are or where you live; it simply allows us to monitor and improve our service.

2. Where will the information be held?
Personal information submitted through the forms on this site is held only in our databases in Hong Kong. We promise that WWF will not share the information you give to us on this website with any other organization unless you have specifically given us permission to do so.

3. Information from under 18s
If you are under 18, be sure to obtain your parent's or guardian's permission before you send any information about yourself (your name, address, e-mail address, etc.) to us or anyone else over the internet. We encourage parents to get involved with their children's usage of the internet and to be aware of the activities in which they are participating.

4. Your right to access the information
At any time, you can ask us for a copy of the personal information that we hold about you or request a correction or deletion of information.
